Why are Satsuki Azaleas so great for bonsai lovers?

Satsuki Azaleas are varied and strong. Bonsai lovers also like their brilliant flowers, which can grow in diameter up to seven inches. Flowering most strikingly in late summer, they are also trainable into so many tree-like styles.

How should one take care of Satsuki Azaleas?

Keep them in partial shade, protected from frost and heavy rain, especially during their flowering season. Regularly remove any dead flowers and leaves, as in any azalea. Be sure to trim the flowers soon after they are in full blossom. Secondary shoots should be pruned a little less until the middle of the summer.

What type of soil mix should one use on Satsuki Azaleas?

As it is in the thododendron family, it needs acid in the soil. Therefore, use lime-free soil mix.
